Here's the easiest
way to edit your theme graphics and use them at
once!
No need to modify your themes for editing! It is
possible to improve them and let people work on
selected graphics only.
Anyway, the object is an ordinary RW
theme!!
RapidWeaver
Themes and compatibility with RWmultitool:
Theme must include images:
Supported
theme image formats are JPG with several quality
settings, Tiff, Tga and Png (without alpha
channel).
RWmultitool open the original image into the theme
and s
ave with the same image format.
RapidWeaver themes compatibility :
RWmultiTool read and can edit the themes
contained into the folder
Library/ApplicationSupport/Rapidweaver/.
First of all the Theme must
include some images.
Several images inside a theme are just buttons,
small
icons or patterns. RWmultitool can edit such
images too,
but they are not useful for theme
customisation,
therefore you should not consider them,
even though they appear in RWmultitool list
(using "View All Themes"option).
Make your theme compatibile with RWmultitool:
1 just edit all images. The "yourTheme/content/images/editable_images/....."
folder will automatically be created.
2 If needed change names to your theme
images. Use simple names for your images, for
example "Green_header_700px.jpg"
3 Now move images to be edited
(../images/editable_images/...)
and update their links in the related CSS files
(with CSSedit or similar appplications).
4 Edit also related options in the Plist
options; all names of related options with this
prefix "•" before any option that you can edit
with RWmultitool ( for example "• Header Red"
).
5 Add 3rings ( compatibility brand) into
the Theme Preview.png > Download template
Download
an example from our Themes page
( you will
find also free themes)
Note
for developers:
With RWmultitool you can see a selection
of the best images ready to be customized. If
you open the complete list of themes, you have
a wider selection of images. However, not all
images in this list can be customized. For this
reason it's very important that you use the
"..editable_images/.." folder!!!!! The user
must see only prediposed images...
RWmultitool (also the Lite
version) can read
"yourTheme/content/images/editable_images/....."
but also "yourTheme/content/images/....." (with
"view all themes" option)
that's all!
Themes with tiles or
pattern:
Some themes with variable width have the
graphics divided into three parts: you will
edit the left one or the center one (look at
the sample image) which should be large enough
to let you put place graphic elements in it
them. If you want the compatibility with RWmt
you must change the width of your tile
(header).
You must correctly size the image to match the
page header width and height.
CSS note: change the css to something like top
left no-repeat or Center no-repeat.
Example1:
Centered header (long image) with sides images
( corners).
You see only a part of the total image, the
window width depend from the width you choose
in the theme options.
Consider also the corners width
Example2:
Centered header (long image).
You see only a part of the total image, the
window width depend from the width you choose
in
the theme options.
Example2:
Long header with Left orientation. You see only
a part of the total image, the window width
depend from the width you choose in the theme
options.
Images positon:
RWmultiTool can edit all images contained into
the folder "yourTheme/content/images" and in
the first two folders nested in it; just select
"all images".
By default RWmultitool shows a list of all
compatible themes (new generation themes) which
will display images contained into the folder
"yourTheme/content/images/editable_images/"
only (best images only).
Note: The "all
images" option is available both for
RWmultitool Full version and LITE version.
Backup of Original images:
Backup is automatically performed by
RWmultitool and (it creates a folder named
"orignal" into the theme folder). If When you
restore the original file (deleting your edited
version) the original copy will be removed from
the folder. RWmultitool avoids filling your
theme folder and keeps only what you need.
Note:
Themes will only include the original
images and the images edited by RWmultitool;
the graphic elements you used for your
composition will not be included.
Note about
compatibility:
Even though
images have compatible formats, RWmultitool may
sometimes not be able to save them. This may
depend upon meta information included in the
file, like color profiles. The workaround is
opening each image in Photoshop and "save it
for Web" (PNG or JPG); replace the original and
you're out.
